Amnesty International Australia – Freedom Festival 2005 was a series of art, music and culture festivals Australia wide over 20 days, in metropolitan and regional Melbourne, Sydney, Canberra, Hobart, Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide. In conjunction with an International album release.

Perran led hundreds of contributors and stakeholders nationwide to deliver a seamless internationally acclaimed series of festivals that exceeded all expectations and had a massive positive impact on Amnesty International Australia’s Stop Violence Against Women Campaign.

Achievements

70% of artists and performers at the festival were women.

Largest uptake in membership since AIA initiated in Australia.

Broadest publicity coverage since AIA initiated in Australia.

Over 7000 people in attendance in Sydney and thousands more across the country.

Over 10,000 signed the campaign petition.

Nominated for the National Prevention of Violence Against Women Award presented at Australian Parliament House, Canberra.

Consulted with Saatchi & Saatchi and AIA on the national Stop Violence Against Women television, print, and online campaign.

Freedom Festival contributed to the implementation of a national code of conduct for the prevention of violence against women.

This is actually my first foray into Amnesty International. Of course for years I've heard, read about and respected the work that they do and the sacrifices that they make, but it's all new to me. I'm honoured and happy to be doing this.

One of
Perran’s
proudest achievements

Perran is a strong advocate for women so was honored to have the roles of National Managing/Creative Director, Designer and Events Producer of the nationwide Freedom Festival 05 and international album release.

He also Managed and Produced the Sydney leg of Freedom Festival across The Studio at Sydney Opera House and The Civic Hotel Building in the Sydney CBD.

For his outstanding work, Perran was nominated for the National Prevention of Violence Against Women Award at the Australian Parliament House, Canberra.

Perran successfully managed relationships with stakeholders including Amnesty International Australia, over 100 Artists, a team of 12 event promoters nationally and 30 volunteers and interns in Sydney.
