Good Space

Sailors home & Park

A CELEBRATION OF THE BEST OF LIFE

Over two exceptional months, the GOOD SPACE Pop Up Festival in The Rocks injected a potent, vital dose of revolutionary arts, music, ideas, performance, engagement and sustainability into a culturally parched, post-lockdown Sydney.
GOOD SPACE was a dream come true that exceeded all expectations, providing a proven proof of concept that delivered revitalisation, strengthening, rejuvenation and economic benefits to the Art, Music, Culture, Environment, Hospitality, Community, Tourism and Services sectors.

Completely re-imaging and transforming the derelict historically listed Sailors Home and adjoining Park in The Rocks, into a non-traditional Art Gallery, Music, Performance and Party Venue, Astisian and Eco Shop, Talks and Workshop Space, Bar and Secret Garden mixed in one GOOD SPACE.

GOOD SPACE housed up to 550 happy peeps at a time and more than 7000 over the 2 month period, throughout a lovely park overlooking the harbour and multiple floors and many unique spaces of the iconic rundown labyrinthian building. There was truly no other place like GOOD SPACE.

Connected and strengthened bonds between a diverse range of stakeholders in the arts, cultural, environmental, hospitality, Government and community sectors, enabling future collaborations and opportunities to continue.

Allowed artists to thrive in the wake of an emerging new era of Sydney’s cultural economy, and provided a new feature point for visitors to come to the city.

Enabled hundreds of new connections and collaborations to be formed across the community of volunteers, crews, artists, performers and technical crew – and now, these interactions are thriving and taking shape in the re-birth of the creative, cultural and hospitality sectors.
